There are strong cultural norms about interracial dating. Recent studies have shown that half of all teens in the US have dated someone of another race, but interracial marriages are far less common. I almost maried ouside of my race. She turned out to be a bad thing for me.


None the less, I think there are sometimes too many differences to overcome. Not only cultural but behavioral as well.


Further, there are pressures from outside sources like family and friends, that might go against the grain of interaccial marriage. As people, we value those opinions pretty high at times.


As we grow older, I think we begin to look for someone who is more and more like ourselves. Due to different upbrinings, cultural traits, class structure and behvaioral differences, the chances of a person from another race being similar to your self gets smaller and smaller.Interracial dating question -- why are couples more willing to date but not to marry?
my guess is cultural differences can be overlooked and dealt with for dating but after awhile u may realize its not somthing u want to deal with for a life commitment ...
Because it's not permanent so they can get out of it anytime. Also they don;t have to involve their parents,
I think there's still a racist ideology planted in their subconscious...they subconsciously think ';oh well i can date this person but I should marry a person of my own race'; what people (all people) need to realize is that people should get married for love and should marry who they love, even if they are of a different culture or race, it shouldn't matter as long as they genuinely love each other.
They like the idea, but the beliefs implanted in them by parents fill them with guilt.
Many people experiment with drugs but don't want to be dope fiends.





Marriage requires commitment. Do you really want to take one of us home to meet your parents?
In all honesty, I think people don't want to stir up the family with knowing that they have crossed over. These same people should not even be dating outside of their race but there are a lot of cowards who feel you are good enough under the sheets but not til death do us part! Kind of like a a fad or trend!!
