Is it possible to secretly marry gay couples if you're a Catholic priest?

Not really. By Catholic definition marriage is only between a man and a woman. So anything the priest did would not be considered a marriage. He could perform the rite, but it would be a mortal sin for the couple and the priest and again, not really a marriage.

It doesn't matter if you secretly believe in it or not. That does not change if its right or wrong, or allowed or prohibited. Is it possible to secretly marry gay couples if you're a Catholic priest?
Don't know but they used to do it openly

For the last two millennia, in parish churches and cathedrals throughout Christendom, from Ireland to Istanbul and even in the heart of Rome itself, homosexual relationships were accepted as valid expressions of a God-given love and commitment to another person, a love that could be celebrated, honored and blessed, through the eucharist, in the name of, and in the presence of Jesus Christ. Prof. John Boswell, the former Chairman of Yale University鈥檚 history department, discovered that in addition to heterosexual marriage ceremonies in ancient Christian church liturgical documents, there were also ceremonies called the ';Office of Same-Sex Union'; (10th and 11th century), and the ';Order for Uniting Two Men'; (11th and 12th century). These church rites had all the same ritual symbols of a heterosexual marriage: the whole community gathered

No. The marriage would not be a sacrament, and depending on the state it would not be legal either.

It is impossible for a gay couple to be validly married by the Catholic Church, or even secretly by a Catholic priest.
I suppose. I mean, all you'd need is the couple, the priest, and a witness or two, right? It could be done at night or during sometime when there wasn't mass going on or something. I think a Catholic priest could secretly marry a gay couple if he really tried.
How do you secretly get a wedding license?

It would not be sanctioned by the church I know that. All you would need to do is find a priest who didn't hold the beliefs of the church (not hard to find)

But what value would there be in that?
Many, many things are possible.

Possible does not make them right or legal.

Possible does not make them proper.
i really don't think a priest would do that and if he would then he is by my definition not catholic,

one of my biggest pet peeves is someone will pick and choose parts of a religion
You could do it, but I am sure if you were found out you'd be reprimanded pretty harshly.

I live in Iowa, so no gay couple who wanted to marry here would have a problem getting a license.
That wedding will not be valid in the Catholic Church even if a priest officiated it.
Stick with the Unitarian/Universalists. And it's ligit.
I am sure it can be done and probably has been by priests with ideas of their own.
Of course not.
Interesting question. I'm looking forward to it- thanks
... yes, I guess if you promised the priest a little sumthin sumthin! :))
I'm sure they could, as a secular thing in countries where it's legal.
