staying in covent garden area. travelling down from the n.e. of england. Two mature/ish couples going to london for the weekend any tips or advise please.?
Yes.

You can walk from Piccadily to Trafalgar from there jus cross the road under that thing you'll get to Saint James Park and at the end of it there will be Buckinham Palace then just walk toward and get to Hyde Park, jus walk to the end of it theres Kennington Green Park where you can also find Peter Pan.

Then u are jus cross the road stop in the bus stop pop up the bus 94

and u can easily get to Marble Arch and Oxford street blah blah...

Or to Nottinghill Gate [Holland Park] and Kensington to the other way....

But from Trafalgar you can also get to Westminister [Big Ben, London eye, London Bridge and all those stuff] easily

Further from Trafalgar by the bus 29 you can easily get to Camden town as well.....

Also many free museums... i.e british and scient...

Oh yeah and also should go to West End [Shepherds Bush, Westfield Shopping Centre] You need at least the whole afternoon, cos it really is massive, but don't worry they open till late. And it worth it, i think it's nice still.

Also for a night out could go to Soho. or to the West end.Two mature/ish couples going to london for the weekend any tips or advise please.?
Go to the Theatre, if you're on a budget, try the half price ticket booth in Leicester Square (not the small booths as you come into the square) but the largish building at the bottom, they sell tickets for plays, musicals %26amp; comedies, and you can often find a bargin.

Take in a museum, Natural History or British, visit Hyde Park %26amp; Kensington Palace.

The London Eye is good too, and offers great views across London, and next to that is the London Aquarium.
Try something culturally different. Visit Brixton if you want fine exotic dining and then follow up with a visit to the fridge nightclub which is also close by. Alternatively find yourself a good bar with sky sports and relish the thought of having either Sunderland, Newcastle or Middlesbrough relegated from top flight football.
Have a look at what users of Enjoy England have said about their 'Perfect Weekends' in London.

There should be plenty to keep you busy.

Enjoy your stay.
