To carry along the theme of my other question, would anyone give the mother's last name to the kids? I'm not talking about single mother households where the father is absent so the mother gives her last name to the kids-that is more common. But in families where the mother and father are present-would or have you ever given the mother's last name to the kids?Would any married couples, regardless of their last names, ever give the wife's last name to the children?
I don't see why not if both parents can agree to it. I've even heard of men changing their name to the wife's name after marriage, so maybe there's not as much preassure on men these days to carry on the family name.Would any married couples, regardless of their last names, ever give the wife's last name to the children?
My sister did it for her kid, and is with her husband.
i gave our son my partner's last name because i still have my biological father's last name and he never was a father to me.
I have a cousin who has both her parents last name. I think its really up to the parents. who cares what other people think.
Only if she has a better last name than me.
The boys would have to have my name CASE CLOSED. But the girls can have her name... if its a nice name. My last name is kind of masculine anyway.
Good question. I don't know why, since traditionally having children is to carry on the family name.
I guess if you have a girl she can keep the mother's name.
I dunno - I am pretty traditional when it comes to this stuff. If I remarry, I will take his name unless it's Chevapravatdumrong. :)
My cousin...only daughter and last one in the family with her father's last name. Kept her name and is giving her children her last name. I believe this is not largely to do with keeping the name around. But more of as an honor to her father who died of cancer when she was 9.
