Although many countries allow same sex couples to adopt children (in the US handful of states, like Virginia do not allow) the restrictions on surrogacy are getting tighter and few countries allow what is referred to as 'commercial surrogacy' where the birth mother is paid for her services. Currently it is only lawful in the US to compensate the woman for expenses. I believe the same applies to the UK. It is also not legal for ANYONE (same or opposite sex couples) to pay a woman for the right to adopt her child- regardless of who the birth father is. Although it is legal (and common) to pay huge sums of money to an adoption agency to facilitate.
You are misinformed.

Adoption by same-sex couples is legal in Guam, Andorra, Belgium, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, South Africa, Spain, the United Kingdom, some parts of Australia, Canada and some parts of the United States.

In Denmark, Germany, and Israel ';stepchild-adoption'; is permitted, so that the partner in a civil union can adopt the natural (or sometimes even adopted) child of his or her partner. In the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, Hungary and some other countries, there is a universal adoption policy, meaning anyone deemed to be capable of providing a healthy stable family home, whether straight, LGBT, married, single, cohabiting or unmarried, may apply for adoption. Same-sex couples may also foster children in the Republic of Ireland as there is a dire need for foster parents. Same-sex couples may also foster children in Finland, but the majority of cases are stepchild fostering cases (stepchild adoption of same sex couples is illegal).

No, and Joe Yellow -- Christianity is NOT the official religion. When you consider there are 500 m Buddhists worldwide and another 1 b in China and another 500 m in India who see Buddha has a incarnation of Krishna you get a fair estimate of 2b! Plus Indians and Chinese are the future in terms of population and economy so its safe to say that if there is any one religion that will obscure Christianity and Islam its Buddhism. Even Einstein and Time Magazine agree. So there is hope yet for us all =)
No I'm not stunned I wouldn't want to live with gay parents it would make me feel embarssed and humilated when I was older to know I was raised by them and could have been raised with normal parents I mean what if you wanted a dad and was being raised by two chicks ... that would be really odd seeing one of them as the dad O-o
I'm more shocked that Christianity is the official religion of the world.

Wait, not shocked, appalled.

I don't know where you get that information from- do you have a source? It happens in a lot of western European countries.
To Truth Seeker. Buddhism is NOT a religion. Buddhism is Philosophy.
ya its pretty sad so many kids need loving homes and can't find one because countries think gay people are unfit to be a parent.
This belongs in one of the politics and government sections.
When two great nations acted pervertedly it's not a good sign. I agree with you.
I'm stunned the US allows it more so than India. Maybe there is hope for them yet. :)
That isn't true.
I'm pretty sure they are allowed to in my country.
this simply isn't true
Not true, we do here in the UK too.
Children should not be brought up in immorality. I'm sorry, but homosexuality is wrong. That's all there is to it.
Yes, I am stunned, that is two too many.
